These
photographs honor Alan Spoonhunter (1949-2004). Alan established the
Environmental Management Office and was the Manager from 1996 to 2004.
He took these photographs in the weeks prior to his death as he went
about his work on the reservation. They exemplify the mission and
philosophy of the Bishop Tribe’s Environmental Management Office.
Alan is missed as a community leader who helped start many tribal
programs. We remember Alan as being generous with his time and thoughtful
with his advice. He touched our lives and the lives of many
people. He will not be forgotten.
The
Bishop Tribe’s Air Quality Program was initiated in 2001,
under Alan’s leadership. This program is funded through the
EPA General Assistance Program and Clean Air Act.
